Rolo’s Indy Outlook in July
Hey Indy friends — Rolo here again! 🐾
July is here, which means Indy is officially in full summer mode. I’ve been spending my days soaking up the sunshine, keeping an eye on the neighborhood from my favorite window spot, and convincing Dottie that every walk should include a stop for snacks. (She says that’s “not how errands work,” but I disagree.)
There’s always something happening around Indianapolis, and July is packed with local events, food, music, art, and plenty of ways to enjoy summer close to home. Here are a few things I have my paws on the calendar for this month!
Civil War Tour
July 1st | Crown Hill Cemetery
I may not understand all the details of history (I’m mostly focused on squirrels and treats), but even I know Indianapolis has some pretty fascinating stories hiding in plain sight. The Civil War Tour at Crown Hill Cemetery is a chance to learn about the people and events that shaped our city during one of the most important times in American history.
It’s a unique way to explore one of Indy’s most historic places and discover some stories you might not hear every day.

All-American Day in the Park
July 3rd | Sarah T. Bolton Park
Nothing says summer like an evening outside with food, music, and fireworks. All-American Day in the Park is a classic community celebration with plenty happening before the fireworks light up the sky. It’s a great chance to relax, enjoy some summer traditions, and spend time with friends, family, and neighbors right here in Indy.

Indianapolis Burger Week
July 13th-19th | All Around Indy
Now this is an event I can get behind. Indianapolis Burger Week is basically a whole week dedicated to one of America’s greatest creations: the burger. Local restaurants across Indy will be serving up special burger creations, which means it’s a great chance to support local spots and maybe find a new favorite. I asked Dottie if I could help with taste testing, but apparently “dogs can’t review burgers.” I think that’s unfair.

Indy Dance Festival
July 18th-19th | All Around Indy
Indy has a pretty impressive arts scene, and the Indy Dance Festival is a great reminder of how much creativity happens right here in our community. The weekend includes performances, classes, and ways for people of all ages to get involved. I may not be much of a dancer myself (unless chasing my tail counts), but I respect anyone who can keep up with those moves.

Family Discovery Day: Space
July 18th | Indiana State Museum
Calling all future astronauts! Family Discovery Day: Space is bringing the universe a little closer to home with activities focused on space exploration, science, and discovery.
And as a dog, I have to mention one of the most famous pups: Laika! She was the first living creature to orbit Earth, so I’d say dogs have already made our mark on space history. 🐶🚀I’m not sure I’m ready for a rocket ride myself, but this sounds like a fun day for families looking to learn something new together.

Fourth Friday Art Walk
July 24th | Beech Grove
There’s something special about spending a summer evening exploring local art, meeting neighbors, and supporting the creative people in our community. The Fourth Friday Art Walk brings together artists, makers, musicians, and local businesses for a fun night around Beech Grove. Plus, I hear there are usually plenty of friendly people out walking around, which means excellent opportunities for me to make new friends.

At Window Depot of Indianapolis, we make replacement window shopping easy with energy-efficient windows, doors, and siding designed to help keep your home comfortable all year long.
Until next month! 🐶🐾
