Rolo’s Indy Outlook in May

Rolo's Indy Outlook

Hey Indy friends! 🐶 Rolo here — back at it again with your May lineup. And let me tell you… this month is PACKED. The flowers are out, the city’s buzzing, and I’ve been dragging my human Dottie all over town to sniff out the best events (strictly for research purposes, of course).

Whether you’re looking for festivals, local art, or one of Indy’s biggest traditions, May’s got a little bit of everything. Let’s dig in! 🐾

Spring Blooms at Newfields

May 1st–10th | Newfields

We’re kicking things off with one of the prettiest events of the season. Spring Blooms at Newfields brings thousands of flowers to life across the gardens — perfect for a relaxing stroll, a date night, or just getting outside after being cooped up all winter. I personally enjoy the walking paths… lots of great sniffing opportunities.

PopCon Indy

May 8th–10th | Indiana Convention Center

Calling all comic book fans, gamers, and pop culture lovers — PopCon is back! This one’s always a big hit with cosplay, celebrity guests, panels, and more. I tried dressing up once, but apparently “dog with bandana” isn’t considered cosplay. Still fun though.

Asian Fest

May 9th | Indiana Historical Society

Asian Fest is one of those events that really shows off Indy’s diversity. You’ve got incredible food, cultural performances, and tons of local vendors all in one place. If your plan is to eat your way through the festival… I fully support that decision. I’ll be nearby hoping for dropped samples.

Fourth Friday Art Walk

May 22nd | Main Street in Beech Grove

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key (but still very Indy), the Fourth Friday Art Walk is always a good time. Local artists, galleries, live music — it’s a great way to explore Fountain Square and support the creative community. Plus, plenty of patios for your humans to hang out while you people-watch.

Indianapolis 500

May 24th | Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Let’s be honest — it’s not really May in Indy without the Indy 500. The whole city feels it. Whether you’re heading to the track or just soaking up the energy around town, it’s one of those traditions that brings everyone together. Loud cars, big crowds, and a whole lot of Indy pride.

Earth Fest

May 30th | Garfield Park

We’re wrapping up the month with the Earth Fest — a full day focused on sustainability, local organizations, and ways to keep our community (and planet) in great shape. There’s live music, food, activities, and plenty to learn. As a dog who enjoys parks very much… I fully support keeping them clean and green. 🌎

May’s shaping up to be a pretty pawsome month around Indy. 🐾 Whether you’re heading to a festival, checking out local art, or gearing up for race day, there’s no shortage of ways to get out and enjoy it.

And when you’re back home after a busy day, don’t forget to enjoy the view there, too. At Window Depot of Indianapolis, we make replacement window shopping easy with energy-efficient options that keep your home comfortable all season long (and give dogs like me the perfect lookout spot).

Until next month! 🐶🐾
