Can you believe we’re already halfway through summer? July is here, and I don’t know about you, but I’m soaking up every sunny second. Whether you’re chasing jazz under the stars, checking out new eats, or dancing in the streets (literally), there’s no shortage of ways to connect with our city this month. Here’s what’s catching my eye around town in July:

Animals and All That Jazz

📍Thursday evenings, July 3–31 | Indianapolis Zoo
There’s just something magical about live jazz on a summer evening—and when you throw in elephants and flamingos, well, it doesn’t get more “Indy” than that. Every Thursday night in July, the zoo comes alive with smooth tunes, local food trucks, and all your favorite furry and feathered friends. Bring the kids, bring a date, or just bring your own rhythm.

Downtown Indy’s Fourth Fest

📍July 4 | Downtown
This is the big one. Fourth Fest is a full day of family-friendly fun in the heart of downtown—with live music, bounce houses, food trucks, and, of course, fireworks lighting up the skyline. It’s everything you want from the Fourth, right in the middle of the Circle City. The best part? It’s totally free.

Taste of Indy

📍July 5 | White River State Park
We’ve got so many incredible restaurants in this city, and Taste of Indy brings them all together for one delicious day. From soul food to sushi, tacos to Thai, this is your chance to sample the flavors that make Indy’s food scene so special. Add in some live music and local vendors, and it’s a can’t-miss Saturday.

Indianapolis Water Lantern Festival

📍July 12 | White River State Park
This one’s got heart. The Water Lantern Festival invites you to write a message of hope, remembrance, or intention on a lantern and set it afloat at sunset. Watching the water glow with hundreds of flickering lights? That’s a memory you’ll hold onto. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and totally unique.

Fever Fest

Basketball lovers and hometown heroes, this one’s for you. Fever Fest celebrates our own Indiana Fever and their fans with music, games, local food, and player appearances. Whether you’ve been courtside all season or just love that Indy pride, this is your shot to join the fun.

Indy Dance Festival

📍July 19–20 | Multiple locations around Indy
If there’s a beat, there’s someone dancing to it in Indy this month. The INdy Dance Festival brings together local, national, and international performers for two full days of movement, culture, and expression. With workshops, showcases, and community jams, it’s all about connecting through rhythm—no experience required.
