Ward’s Window on Indy in October!
Hey there, Indy neighbors! Ward here, your friendly local window expert from Window Depot. October’s crept up on us, and you know what that means—ghostly chills, Halloween thrills, and a whole lot of fun around our city! Let’s dive into eight frightfully fantastic events happening this month that’ll have you howling with excitement!
Germanfest
When: October 5th
Where: The Athenaeum
It’s time to break out the lederhosen! Germanfest at The Athenaeum is one of my favorite October traditions. It’s got everything from stein-holding contests and wiener dog races to plenty of beer and bratwurst. This family-friendly event is the perfect way to embrace fall and celebrate Indy’s German heritage. Prost!

October wouldn’t be complete without a beer festival, and the Broad Ripple Beer Fest delivers! Sample brews from local and regional breweries while enjoying live music, games, and more. This event is all about celebrating Indy’s thriving craft beer scene. I’ll be there, beer in hand, ready to sample the best our city has to offer!

October wouldn’t be complete without a few spooky scares and creepy costumes, right? If you’re looking to get your blood pumping and your heart racing, Indianapolis has a ton of hair-raising Halloween events just waiting to give you the fright of your life. Ready to face your fears? Here are some of Indy’s best Halloween happenings!
Irvington Vampire Run
When: October 26th
Where: Irvington
If you feel the pull of the full moon or have a bit of a vampire side, then the Irvington Vampire Run is calling your name! This eerie 5K winds through the historic (and perhaps haunted?) streets of Irvington, where you’ll blend in with all the other creatures of the night. I might not be the fastest vampire out there, but I’ve got to say, there’s nothing quite like running (or shambling) through the streets with a bunch of other “undead” neighbors. And hey, it’s all for a great cause!

Headless Horseman Festival
When: October 3rd-27th
Where: Conner Prairie
Beware the Headless Horseman, Indy! This festival at Conner Prairie is a hauntingly good time for the whole family. The kids will love the hayride, and I’m always half-expecting the Headless Horseman to snatch my hat right off my head. There’s also a haunted maze, spooky storytelling, and lots of tasty treats. It’s the perfect blend of fun and fright, and it’s become a tradition in my household. Just remember—don’t lose your head!

Indy Scream Park
When: All October long
Where: Anderson, IN (just a short drive from Indy!)
If you’re looking to be scared out of your skin, Indy Scream Park is your haunted playground! With six blood-curdling attractions, you’re guaranteed to scream like never before. I’ve been there a few times, and let me tell you, even I’ve had my fair share of jump scares! Last year, I swear one of those creepy clowns followed me halfway back to my car (okay, maybe I imagined that part, but you get the idea). It’s the perfect place to test your bravery, and the scares are no joke. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Nightmare on Edgewood
When: All October long
Where: Edgewood
Now this one? It’s a classic Indy haunt, and it’s not for the faint of heart. I’ve braved Nightmare on Edgewood a couple of times, and every year it feels like they’re upping the scare factor. From the chainsaw-wielding maniacs to the pitch-black mazes where you feel something (or someone) breathing down your neck, it’s an experience that’ll leave you checking over your shoulder the whole ride home. But hey, that’s what October’s all about, right?
